Partner Contractor Job Description

Ether Property Lettings is seeking experienced Roofing Contractors to join our preferred supplier list. Water ingress is one of the most common and damaging issues in rental properties. We need trusted experts who can assess roofs accurately, quote fairly, and carry out lasting repairs to protect our landlords’ assets and our tenants’ homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reactive Repairs: Attend to reports of slipped slates/tiles, leaking flat roofs, and storm damage.

  • Leak Diagnostics: Investigate water ingress issues to find the true source on the roof or flashing.

  • Guttering & Fascias: Clean, repair, or replace leaking gutters, downpipes, and damaged fascias/soffits.

  • Chimney Stacks: Re-pointing and flashing repairs around chimney stacks.

  • Flat Roofing: Patch repairs or torch-on/GRP replacement for extensions and garages.

  • Reporting: Provide clear “before and after” photos (crucial for roof work where landlords cannot see the issue themselves).

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experienced: Proven track record in both pitched and flat roofing repairs.

  • Safety Conscious: Strict adherence to Health & Safety, specifically Working at Heights regulations.

  • Equipped: Must have own ladders, roof ladders, and access equipment (or established relationships with scaffolding companies for larger jobs).

  • Versatile: Able to handle minor gutter clears as well as larger repair jobs.

  • Reliable: Honest assessments—we need to know if a patch will work or if a replacement is actually needed.

  • Public Liability Insurance: Certificate of Currency (Must strictly cover Roofing/Heights – minimum cover of £2 million, preferably £5 million).

  • Working at Heights Certification: Evidence of competence/training.

  • NVQ/City & Guilds: (Preferred: e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Roofing Occupations)

  • Waste Carrier Licence: (Required for removing old tiles, felt, or lead).

  • Photo ID: Driving Licence or Passport.

  • Standard Rate Card: A simple list of costs (e.g., Call-out/Diagnostics fee, hourly labour rate, gutter cleaning fixed rates, cost for replacing a single slate).

Business & Payment Details:

  • Company Letterhead: Showing your trading address and contact numbers.

  • UTR Number / Company Registration Number: For tax verification purposes.

  • Bank Details: Sort Code and Account Number for payments.

  • VAT Certificate: (If VAT registered).
